Hi everyone, my name is Ashley and I am currently a preschool teacher at a Catholic school in northern New Jersey. I have been teaching for two years, and this is my second semester at St. Peter's. I am enrolled in the teaching certification program, which I hope to have completed by the end of this summer. After receiving my certification, I plan to continue to go to St. Peter's for my masters in teaching.
Although I teach young students, technology is incorporated into many areas of our curriculum. My students go to our school's computer lab twice a week, and love using the smartboard! Technology has helped me plan interactive lessons plans and create a cooperative learning environment.
This is my first online class I have taken, and the first time I have ever blogged!
Hi Ashley! Welcome to our class. I'm glad to hear that your preschoolers have access to technology. Our district's preschoolers are in the same building as I am and they have a smartboard too and love it. There are lots of smartboard activities for kids their age.
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley, preschoolers are so cute. I have covered that class a couple of times, it's so much fun, the day goes by so fast! ;D
ReplyDeleteI think I would love to teach the younger kids. I am sure it is so tough but boy are they cute. I am amazed with how children as young as 2 or 3 are familiar with technology in everyday life. It seems so natural to them. I guess it really is because it is available, They can program remotes, play DSi, search google for information (especially pop tropica), ipads, iphones and download itunes and of course digital photos to name a few! It certainly makes me feel like a dunce.
ReplyDeleteI think you said you work at St. Cecilia's? I am so sorry to hear they are closing down the school. It is so unbelievable to me. I am a product of Catholic education my entire school career. It makes me so sad. All three of my children were baptized at St. Cecelia's.
Have you ever worked in the public school system? Can you speak at all about the pro and cons? Would you like to continue at a Catholic school?
Rosanna
Please excuse if this comes through 2x.
Hi Ashley,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comparisons. I have to look at Tenafly Elementary for my boys because we are planning on moving and we are looking at neighboring towns, This class is great!
I guess there is more than meets the eye. Sometimes people are too quick to judge things. Could be that Englewood has better technology and maybe a better school.
